In our today’s article we explore Facebook’s new service Ad Library, discuss what it actually is and whether it will replace spy tools.

On March 28, Facebook launched Ad Library – a catalogue of ads which will store information on all active ads running on Facebook and Instagram. Ad Library will enable you to search ads by keywords and monitor statistical data such as budget and it’s source, geographic performance, audience demographic, publication history, introduced changes and the number of impressions. However, detailed stats are now available only for certain ads.

The service looks like this:

Ad Library aims at promoting advertising transparency. Now everyone can access in-depth information on any given ad campaign, with or without a Facebook account.

Ad Archive, Ad Library’s predecessor, was launched in May 2018. The service collected and stored data related to US policy. Ad Library is an expanded version of the initial platform covering more topics and geos and allowing one to download detailed reports.

Transparency and accessibility enable you to monitor any ad campaign running on FB and Instagram, thus allowing you to see what your competitors are engaged in without using any spy tools.

Only time will tell how Ad Library will evolve, but the service definitely has the potential to become one of the key tools for marketers working with Facebook and Instagram.
