Red Fort
Red Fort was founded by Shah Jahan in 1648. It took 10 years to construct. However, Shah Jahan never took up residence here, since his disloyal son, Aurangzeb, imprisoned him in Agra Fort. The Red Fort covers an area of more than two kilometers.
It has an impressive main entrance, the Lahore Gate, named so because it faces towards Lahore in Pakistan. If you enter this gates, you will visit a 17th-century bazaar, Chhatta Chowk. You can buy souvenirs, food, jewelry and gems in there.

Humayun’s Tomb
This mausoleum constructed of white marble and red sandstone is the first example of Mughal architecture in India. It was designed as a prototype of the Taj Mahal in Agra. The tomb was built in the mid-16th century thanks to the initiative of Humayun’s widow Hamida Banu Begum. It is surrounded by gardens and other tombs including the Tomb of Taj Mahal’s architect, Isa Khan.
The architect of the building Mirak Mirza Ghiyas was of Persian origin and the building is strongly influenced by Persian architecture. Ghiyas constructed the tomb in the center of a Persian-style garden with quadrilateral form. The garden, divided in four main parts is created to resemble the paradise garden which was described in the Quran.

Mehrauli Archaeological Park
The Mehrauli Archaeological Park covers 100 acres of green land which includes the ruins of the Lal Kot built by the Tomar Rajputs in 11th century A.D. This area has the remains from every era of Delhi’s history – from the pre-Islamic to the late Mughal and the colonial period.
The Archaeological Park has a varied landform with irregular rocky slopes, valleys, plains, and water bodies. It is a great historical sight with various picturesque nature.
